Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner was one of Marvel Comic's first characters and a big favorite of mine as a kid. The "Mariner" part of his name is pronounced like it is in "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." But all of the other kids always called him "Submarine-er," as if he was a submarine!

So, I painted this for all the kids who get his name wrong...
